The full-day CPD course will be delivered on the web using Zoom.
Adverse environmental impacts will arise at construction sites, irrespective of the location, size, or nature of the development, and have the potential to impact residents in the vicinity, the built environment, and the natural ecology. These will impact the construction progress of the project, which may induce additional cost and time. Adverse environmental impacts can take many different forms, such as waste, noise, dust, etc., and can affect surrounding flora and fauna, the well-being of the workers on site, and the residents nearby.
Every construction project has environmental requirements that need to be well-managed by the site manager and workers on site. Violation of environmental protection legislation can result in court convictions. This applies both in Hong Kong and the UK.
The task of preventing adverse environmental impacts or minimizing the risk of potential impacts is increasingly becoming the responsibility of resident site staff. This greater accountability at site level demands higher standards of environmental awareness and education of all resident site staff.
This CPD course will cover a range of environmental issues relating to construction projects in the UK and Hong Kong. It will also highlight the guidance developed in the 5th edition of CIRIA C741 Environmental Good Practice on Site Guide.
