Construction over abandoned mine workings (SP32)

This publication deals with building on previously undermined areas, providing information and guidance for engineers and geologists who are engaged in the co-ordination of a mining investigation, in the design of foundations, or in remedial measures. The information presented will also be of use to others who are unfamiliar with specific techniques of ground consolidation. Readers should note that this report was first published in 1984. Although technically it is still relevant, many standards, health and safety obligations and organisations have changed. Readers should satisfy themselves as to current requirements.

Key words: ground investigation and characterisation, ground improvement, underground construction, soil-structure interaction.
