The full-day CPD course will be delivered on the web using Zoom.
Dissemination of experience is essential for the proficient and continuing development of the engineering profession. Therefore, a series of "Lessons Learned" Web-CPD courses have been launched to disseminate the experience we gained from past construction projects worldwide. The upcoming course of the series is "Lessons Learned from Waterfront Developments in Hong Kong."
Victoria Harbour of Hong Kong is one of the most functional and beautiful harbors in the world. Although there are many cities with similar waterfront environments, such as New York, San Francisco, Hamburg, Barcelona, Sydney, Tokyo, Kaohsiung, etc., Victoria Harbor of Hong Kong has many unique features, such as very high population density, complex urban ecology, compact land utilization, efficient logistic channels, unique landscape or scenic view of the harbor fronts, etc. The waterfront developments on the two sides of Victoria Harbour are thus very important components of the urban fabric of Hong Kong, especially in the built environment of the vibrant city. Similarly, the waterfront developments along the Tolo Harbour and other coastlines of Hong Kong are also very important components of the urban fabric of the New Territories. Practically speaking, the developments along the waterfronts are essential components that are almost equivalent to the development of Hong Kong as a whole.
The speaker, Ir Raymond Wong, has studied many waterfront development projects worldwide for more than 25 years. In this Web-CPD course, he will focus on waterfront development projects in Hong Kong and share with the participants the lessons that he has learned.
