Ir Keith W.K. Kong

Ir Keith W.K. KONG received his BEng in Mining Engineering (major in Underground Mining) from Imperial College London and his MSc in Civil & Structural Engineering from The University of Hong Kong. He is a Fellow of HKIE (Civil & Geotechnical Disciplines), a Fellow of ICE and IOM3, a Chartered Engineer of the U.K. and an UK Registered Ground Engineering Adviser. He is presently the Technical Director of Mott MacDonald Australia Pty Ltd.  Ir Kong has 27 years of diversified international experience predominantly in design, construction, site supervision and project management of various major civil, highways, mining, oil & gas, slopes, railways, water supplies and underground space projects in Australia, Dubai, Hong Kong, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa and Mainland China; in particular of his involvement in the design/construction of 48 tunnels and underground space projects with total length of more than 305 km and total excavated volume of more than 15 Mm³.

Ir Kong has authored more than 15 technical papers in journals and conference proceedings. He actively conducts technical seminars for local professional institutions to share his experience. He is also now a PhD candidate at the University of Queensland and focusing his research on the maximum stable span of reinforced rock cavern.
