The half-day CPD course will be delivered on the web using Zoom.
With Hong Kong continuing to invest in railway, transport and underground infrastructure, tunnel boring machine (TBM) technology remains important for delivering tunnels safely and efficiently within the city’s dense urban environment. This half-day CPD course provides practicing engineers with an integrated overview of shielded TBM tunnel design and construction, with emphasis on precast segmental lining design, relevant design standards and specifications, segment manufacture, waterproofing and key TBM concepts. The course also addresses ground movements associated with tunneling, including prediction methods, risk assessment, and evaluation of potential damage to buildings and infrastructure. Practical approaches for mitigation and remedial measures will be discussed.
This half-day CPD course links fundamental design principles with practical considerations relevant to the planning, design and construction of current and future underground infrastructure projects in Hong Kong.
