After Hong Kong's return to China in 1997 and the opening of the new Hong Kong International Airport in 1998, the HKSAR Government has focused on developing transportation infrastructures to enhance Hong Kong's urban fabric during the last 30 years, including the highway and railway networks. Some extremely challenging railway projects completed since 1997 include the Tseung Kwan O Line, the West Rail, the Ma On Shan Line, the Tsim Sha Tsui Extension, the Disneyland Resort Line, the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, the Kowloon Southern Link, the West Island Line, the Kwun Tong Line Extension, the South Island Line, the Hong Kong Express Rail Link and the East Rail Line Cross-Harbour Extension, and many others.
The speaker will give an overview of these railway infrastructure projects in this half-day Web-CPD course. The major design and construction features of these railway infrastructure projects will be demonstrated through numerous archival photographs he took during his studies.
