Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has long been a tool for achieving sustainable development through impact assessment and option selection for policies, programs and plans as well as engineering projects in Hong Kong and overseas. It also becomes the focus of discussion and public concern on mega infrastructure projects.

This one-day Web-CPD course is designed for decision-makers in both public and private sectors, planners, developers, engineering practitioners and green groups to acquire essential knowledge on the basic theory and best practices of EIA applied to engineering projects. In addition to project EIA, strategic environmental assessment (SEA) will be introduced as a tool applicable for policies/programmes/plans evaluation. The legislative framework and licensing requirements under the EIA Ordinance (Cap 499) will also be discussed in detail together with the new initiatives implemented under the recent EIAO Review. The presentation will be supplemented by case studies.
