The full-day CPD course will be delivered on the web using Zoom.
There is no doubt that our climate is changing. The 1st "Very Hot Weather Warning" of the year was issued by the Hong Kong Observatory on 26 May 2026 after temperatures reached 33°C, while London recorded 34°C on the same day. Extreme weather events are already placing increasing geotechnical and geoenvironmental pressures on the built environment, challenging the resilience of the infrastructure and assets we rely on every day.
CIRIA Report C824 Good Practice Guide for Managing Climate Change and Extreme Weather in Land Development is an important milestone as the 1st comprehensive UK guidance document to help professionals understand and respond to these emerging geo-based risks.
The challenge now is to ensure that climate resilience is fully embedded in everyday geotechnical and geoenvironmental practice. This event will explore how practitioners can translate awareness into meaningful action, supporting more informed decision-making and improving the long-term resilience of the built environment.
This CPD course will cover a range of geotechnical and geoenvironmental issues relating to climate change and extreme weather on land development in the UK and Hong Kong. It will also highlight the guidance developed in CIRIA Report C824 Good Practice Guide for Managing Climate Change and Extreme Weather in Land Development.
