Green Compliance without Tears:
A Better Understanding of the Hong Kong Environmental Laws
3rd December 2021
The course will be delivered on the web using Zoom.
Environmental compliance is not an option but one of the key performance indicators of the construction industry. With the heightened awareness and expectation of the community together with strengthened statutory control on environmental quality, the construction sector is spending more resources and effort in meeting statutory requirements for better environmental performance. Under the context of corporate social responsibility, leading engineering companies even go beyond compliance.
This one-day continuing professional development (CPD) course is designed to enable engineering practitioners, both at professional and technical levels, to acquire up-to-date and hands-on knowledge on the legislative requirements of the five major environmental legislations of Hong Kong, i.e.:
Air Pollution Control Ordinance (Chapter 311)
Noise Control Ordinance (Chapter 400)
Water Pollution Control Ordinance (Chapter 358)
Waste Disposal Ordinance (Chapter 354)
Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance (Chapter 499)
Apart from regulatory aspects, the licensing and permitting requirements of these ordinances and effective pollution control practices will be introduced. Case studies will also be presented to illustrate the regulatory control regime of these legislations.
