Introduction to Geotechnical Engineering
(in Cantonese)
This is an undergraduate level introductory course in soil mechanics conducted in Cantonese. Soil is an important engineering material which plays an important role in infrastructure construction. Soil mechanics is a sub-discipline of geotechnical engineering. It uses the principles of mechanics, hydraulics and to some extent chemistry to solve civil engineering problems relating to soil. Other sub-disciplines of geotechnical engineering include rock mechanics, foundation engineering, rock engineering, geological engineering, pavement design and materials, and geosynthetics.
