Latest Laws Impacting the Construction Industry: Competition Law and Security of Payment (Particularly Adjudication) - 21st September 2016

It is important for practicing engineers, quantity surveyors and project/commercial managers to keep up-to-date with developments in the law. Two crucial new areas of the law that would have significant impacts on the construction industry: competition law and security of payment, will be discussed by way of practical examples and walk-through of actual cases.

Coverage of competition law will include an introduction to the two conduct rules now in force, a series of dos and don'ts and an overview of the regulatory system in Hong Kong.

Next, Hong Kong's proposed security of payment laws will be considered, including the current status of the legislative process, as well as legal issues to keep in mind during, and when enforcing, statutory adjudication.
