Ir Professor J.S. Kuang

Ir Professor J.S. Kuang (鄺君尚教授) is a Professor of Civil Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received his PhD in engineering science from the University of Cambridge and PhD in civil engineering from The University of Hong Kong. His research and teaching activities are primarily focused on seismic analysis and design of concrete structures and buildings, large-scale experiment of structural concrete, and computational modelling and simulation in structural engineering. Professor Kuang's outstanding research on the design of reinforced concrete for seismic resistance and computational mechanics has earned him the prestigious Telford Premium 2014 and T.K. Hsieh Award 2006 from the ICE, the HKIE Best Transactions Paper Prize 2007 and 2016 from the HKIE, and the Grand Award – R&D Award of Structural Excellence Award 2017 from the HKIE-IStructE Joint Structural Division.
